COME ONE COME ALL...SPREAD THE WORD!
Due to the panhandling laws, as well as the dangers of standing streetside, the
days of collecting money by the firefighters are pretty much done. Several
firefighters that have gone day in and day out to do this activity know what
they are collecting for even if the general public does not. However, those that
put everything on the line to save lives everyday rarely get the chance to speak
with those that they have touched so much. Camp Oo-U-La is the state's only
summer camp exclusively for burn-injured children. It is here that some of these
men and women have the chance to interact with those lives of so many that they
have touched.
The benefit on September 12th will not only provide the firefighters the
opportunity to interact with several from the camp, but also give the community
a chance to support these men and women that give so much. A few of the kids
from the camp will be in attendance, and personally I can’t wait to meet them.
When I was first approached with this opportunity I really didn’t know what to
say. I am currently a resident of Texas, but previously a resident of Georgia
for twelve years. Several of us have been working tirelessly to make sure that
this event is a success. Included in this group are several private individuals
from across the state and expanding now all the way to Los Angeles
We as a whole would like to invite you to this event to show support in
something that we deeply believe in.
