Tragedy Strikes the Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services family
December 01, 2006.  Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services regrets to announce the
death of Brandy Wilder, the wife of Firefighter/EMT-I Landon Wilder.
While driving through Auburn, Brandy pulled over to the side of the
roadway, where she was found unconscious by an off-duty Barrow
County Court Clerk. Barrow County 911 was notified and an ambulance
and engine were dispatched to the scene. First arriving personnel
found Brandy in cardiac arrest and measures were attempted to revive
her. The responding ambulance arrived on scene and tragedy struck,
Landon, the EMT on the ambulance found his wife to also be the
patient he was charged with helping. The ambulance and engine crew
placed Brandy in the ambulance and rushed her to Barrow Regional
Medical Center. While enroute to the hospital, Brandy's heart was
restarted and she was then turned over to the emergency room staff.
The staff there stabilized Brandy and arranged for helicopter
transport to Athens Regional Medical Center for more definitive
treatment and care. Brandy's condition was found to be terminal and
her family decided to allow her to pass, but for her organs to be
donated to others that may be in need. Brandy leaves behind her
husband Landon, her son Blane, her mother and father, and many other
family members. The hearts of the Barrow County Fire and Emergency
Services employees go out to Landon and his family during this time.

An education fund has been set up for Landon and Brandy's son,
Blane, at Peoples Bank. Donations can be made at any Peoples Bank in
the name of the Blane Wilder Education Fund. Donations may also be
