IN MEMORY OF FELIX ROBERTS
On Monday (Memorial Day), May 28, 2007, Firefighter II Felix Roberts lost his life while attempting to save another in an early morning structure fire. Because of his and others of the 4th Battalion’s heroic acts, a fund has been established in Roberts’ honor by the Firefighter's Emerald Society of Metropolitan Atlanta.
The Firefighter's Emerald Society provides support to sick or injured members of the fire service, and their families, with special attention to line of duty injuries and deaths. Funeral Arrangements for Firefighter Felix Roberts
Flags are flying at half mast at Fulton County facilities in honor of Firefighter Felix Roberts. He lost his life in the line of duty while battling a structure fire at a home in Johns Creek on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2007.
Visitation for Firefighter Roberts will be held on June 1, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Murray Brothers Funeral Home, 1199 Utoy Springs Road, S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30331, with the Wake Service to follow from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 4245 Cascade Road, S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30331. (Traffic is expected to be extremely heavy along Cascade Road throughout the day.) Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens located at 5755 Mallory Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30349.
“We are all fortunate to have worked with Firefighter Roberts,” said Fire Chief Larry Few. “He was a hero who bravely served both his country and Fulton County residents. We are stunned by this loss.”
Roberts joined the Fulton County Fire Department in 1999. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Persian Gulf War. A native of Tampa, Florida, Roberts is survived by his mother and four siblings.
In lieu of flowers or cards, the Roberts family requests that donations be made in memory of Felix to the Grady Memorial Hospital Burn Unit or the America Cancer Society.

We regret to inform you that Fulton County (Georgia) Firefighter Felix Roberts was killed in the line of duty this morning operating at a house fire in John's Creek. Captain Wayne Gilliard was injured and airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Initial reports are that they were conducting a search for a civilian occupant of the home when a flashover occurred. Another firefighter that has not yet been identified was transported some time later with reported minor injuries. Further details will be posted as they become available.
Please keep all Fulton County Fire personnel and the families of both brothers in your thoughts and prayers.
Captain Avery was the firefighter transported to NFRH, as of now he has been released and in good condition, suffering from some minor smoke inhalation.
