Information provided by Steve McCullough

Britt Cauthen is a 29 year old Henry County Firefighter who was recently diagnosed with cancer of the liver, spleen, and pancreas. I signed up for a mailing list that he has started to keep everyone up to date, and this was the auto response I received. There is a website that he has started to help keep everyone informed about his illness, it is listed below. I know Britt personally, and although we weren't exactly "drinking buddies" I like Britt a lot, and count him among my friends. He is an exceptionally smart, and hardworking individual, and a genuinely great guy to be around. He was at my station for a while before being sent out to a different station, and he was one of those guys that you hated to see go. Please forward this e-mail to the folks in Clayton County, and anyone else that you know that may not have heard about him yet. There are fund raisers in the works to help his family out with the financial burden that they will surely incur. I will forward those along to you as well when they have been finalized.

Thanks,

Steve McCullough

Letter from Britt Cauthen:

Where to start? Let me first say that I was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer on Feb 14 2007. My life as well as my families has been turned upside down. I would like to thank everyone for all the emails, phone calls, and support that everybody has given to me in my time of need. I don't what to say because I am so emotional about it but all the encouragement has kept me strong and positive. My oldest brother, Chris, came up with a great idea that he wanted to create a website where I could post all my progress and where everybody could leave a word or encouragement. the website is now posted and is almost current. Here is the website where everybody can go to get the most current up to date information about me.

The Website is www.caringbridge.org/visit/brittoncauthen

If you leave a message in the guestbook, please leave your e-mail so I can add you to the list to e-mail everyone.

Again I would like to thank all of you with all my heart for the love that everyone has given. My road is going to be hard and painful, but with all my friends and family I am sure that I can beat this to share my story with everybody. So please keep the emails coming because it gives me an reason to get out of bed every morning to read what all the words of encouragement.

thank you with all my heart

Britton Cauthen
