The Off Duty Network - "On the Job"

Feel free to speak your mind.....

We are going to try something new, this page is for all of us "On the Job" and it will contain: sayings, poems, thoughts, views, opinions, etc.  Just send me any thing you would like to add dennis@offdutynetwork.com

Got this info from the boys @ www.vententersearch.com which is an outstanding site by the way!!!

The opinions expressed on this site are those of the authors, and are in no way affiliated with any particular department. Everyone is encouraged to freely express their own opinion in the comments section. Please note that we assume no responsibility for any of those opinions. We have no desire of censoring or editing any comments from our readers. However, it is important to recognize that it is not the intent of this website to allow department bashing. If we find postings that we feel are slanderous, they will immediately be deleted. Feel free to make your point, but please leave specific department names out of any negative comments. You are always welcome to mention department names with a positive tone.

Some of you may remember the "Poison Pen"  and the "Fallen Phoenix" that use to float around the Atlanta, Fulton and Roswell Stations.  Well, that is the idea behind the "On the Job" page of ODN.  We all have our own opinion about what's going on in the world of Public Safety but unfortunately very few "Leaders", and I use the word loosely, have the courage and self confidence to actually listen to those beneath them but more importantly the general public has not idea what is going on.   So ODN has created a sounding board to let your voice be heard (anonymously if preferred).    You can voice your opinion to get feedback from others in Public Safety, you can just "vent" about a topic or you can let the general public know what is really going on around them.  Now obviously as stated above this is not going to be a "bashing" section, so please keep things "clean".

ODN is trying to create a environment where you can freely voice your opinion and views, be heard by those in Public Safety as well as informing the general public.  You can also freely vent about your frustrations in the Public Safety world be it pay, staffing levels, benefits, leadership (lack of), etc.

I have not figured out how people can "post" information on ODN (I'm working on it) so email me dennis@offdutynetwork.com the information and I will post it "as is".

Staffing.......  Need I say anymore?!  That's for any department.

Budget cuts!  Now explain to me again how we are suppose to do our jobs safely and proficiently with less?

I know DeKalb County sent a ladder truck to back fill an Atlanta station that had already "browned" out the engine and truck company in that house.

The Marietta runs four man engines companies and only two man truck companies (someone please explain that to me).
